The Summer of the Blog Post is coming to a close. It certainly has been interesting. I’ve visited more places and learned more things than I ever thought possible.
One July morning I dragged Betsy and Matt to the Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead in Overland Park, to take a photo for the sculpture contest. I hadn’t been to Deanna Rose in many years, and Wow! Has it ever changed. When my kids were little, the place was a lovely little petting zoo and garden playground. Now it’s a 1900’s turn-of-the-century farm, complete with fishing pond and one-room school house. I could have spent all day. The kids were surprised to find that they could have, too.
Here’s a little taste of what we found:
School starts today for my high school kids, closing the chapter on our summer adventures. It doesn’t matter. The days may have disappeared, but the memories are ours to keep.
I love walking around Deanna Rose – it’s a great workout if you follow the entire path.
What a good use for a charming public park!
