aside Road Trip 2017: The Plan

IMG_5382“Let’s plan a trip,” my sister-in-law said in January. She wasn’t picky about where. She just wanted to go on the road. January can do that to a person.
We explored a few destinations from my bucket list: Savannah, Georgia; Macinac Island, Michigan; Santa Fe, New Mexico. Every idea presented the same problem: Getting there would eat up all our time and money.
One day while watching HGTV I hit on the solution. “We should go see the Pioneer Woman Mercantile and the Magnolia Silos,” I said. After some research (Becca is not as addicted to the home cable networks as I am), she agreed. For once in our lives we’d do what all the cool kids were doing.
We planned a generous five-day, four-night round trip from Kansas City to Waco via Pawhuska, OK. The whole adventure could have been condensed to three days—two if we drove like maniacs– but we wanted time to stop and smell the roses along the way.

In the coming days I’ll post about different segments of our trip. By sharing our experiences, I hope to help you plan your getaway to southeast Kansas, northern Oklahoma, Oklahoma City, or north-central Texas.
If any of my stories help you, I’d love to hear about it. If you have questions that I don’t answer in my posts, please leave them in the comments. I’ll do my best to help.
